Steve Graham

Hello and a very warm welcome

to my brand new site PRODOGPUNTER.

Everywhere you look there are tipping websites for Horse Racing and Football but in a first I bring you the very first subscription website for the discerning greyhound fan who is serious about making a healthy profit. With the introduction of Betfair over the last few years it has made greyhound racing more attractive to professional backers like myself in being able to back greyhounds and able to make a decent return for a limited risk and this is my agenda with my new website.

I will not only be tipping greyhounds in races in the UK but also offering a service where with my connections down under be looking at Australian racing and also covering the Open race scene in Ireland. With blanket coverage of the bags scene everyday in the betting shops I have the privilege to watch these races 7 days a week 365 days a year without stepping inside one. This gives me hours of footage to study potential next time out winners and at a decent price.

Without a shadow of a doubt the best way to make money in greyhound racing is to back in Open races where you can nearly always chop half of the field to leave the percentages well in your favour. And it is on the Open race scene where I will be concentrating most.

MISSION STATEMENT:

“I WILL BE ADVISING 2-3 SELECTIONS EACH DAY IF YOU WANT 10 SELECTIONS THEN THIS IS NOT THE SERVICE FOR YOU. MY OBJECTIVE IS TO MAKE MONEY FOR MYSELF AND MY CLIENTS BY BACKING IN A DISCIPLINED AND SELECT MANNER

BACKGROUND

I have been in the Greyhound racing game for more than 20 years having trained, owned, commentated on and giving homes to our four legged friends.

OWNING GREYHOUNDS

I started out owning my first greyhound which I bought from the late George Lang at Crayford back in May 1989. I ran this dog at Swindon trained by  ex Bristol trainer Marjorie Millard and he duly obliged at 5-2 having taken all the 5/1 I was highly delighted.

After having purchased 2 puppies from Joe Coyle who had kennels in Cookstown in Count Tyrone ( A wonderful man and brother to the winning Derby trainer Charlie Coyle whom guided Whisper Wishes to success in the very last Derby ever run at the White City) I ventured into Open racing when picking up a sprinter from Peter Wellon by the name of Coolmona Pop. Peter was reluctant to sell his brindle sprinter and I had to stump up £1000 for this dog who couldn’t win A7 at Swindon simply because he did not stay more than 400 meters but had pace to burn. After taking him to George Lang at Crayford where 380 m suited I asked George if we could take him back to Swindon for an open race to which he replied where the hell is Swindon! After agreeing to the trip he was drawn in trap 5 with the likes of Ronnie Dix’s Churchtown Black and Blissfull Piper in the line up. Pop was 7/1 I backed him down to 4/1 up went the boxes out he flew and with his knowledge of Swindon flew round in 16.70 to win by 2 lengths. Poor old Chris Graham and co took ages to count it all out it was a wonderful evening. It hasn’t all been about winners I once had a dog with the late Adam Jackson at Wembley and backed my dog in the 6 box going down the line trying to get as much as I could on only for the dog to turn in the traps. It was a very long drive home down the M4 that night.

TRAINING.

Initially I had a few greyhounds on the flapping scene especially in South Wales at the Valley, Bedwelty and Forest Fach in Swansea. After 2 years Myself and a friend took out licences and ran a handful of runners at Swindon with mixed success the highlight being a victory in a sprint where we cleaned the bookmakers out, however that was his last run for us at the large galloping track as we were told to take the dog away after his 7 length romp. After 2 further years within the training ranks I decided that owning and punting on the dogs was far easier and we handed our licences in.

COMMENTATING.

Having commentated on greyhound racing over a period of 12 years at a number of tracks live for the Press Association and live at Romford and Harlow. I was also an anchor for the doomed Sky channel Gobarkingmad for 6 months in 2000 which was a great idea however with the wrong people in charge and no live pictures from the UK available this meant the channel had to fold.
